The Birman Cat Club of Canberra - 02 6231 8205

www.actbirmanclub.com.au

The Birman Cat Club of Canberra was founded in 1980 after the arrival of the Birman breed in Canberra. The club has members from across most Australian States. For 18 years it has been holding an annual Birman Specialist Show in Canberra, the only show in Australia for Birmans.

Legend has it that the Birman cat originated in the temples of Burma before the time of Christ. This distinctive cat is a semi-long hair with a cream body, coloured points, white feet and deep blue eyes. It is a placid breed, very people oriented.

ACT Longhair Cat Club Inc. - 02 6248 5195

The ACT Longhair Cat Club Inc. was established in 1973 and is, therefore, the longest established cat club in the ACT. In its earlier years the majority of members were Persian owners or breeders but membership is not restricted to those with Group 1 cats.

The Club runs an annual all breeds show and meets on the second Wednesday of each month (except January) usually with an instructional speaker. There is a newsletter published approximately quarterly which covers a range of social as well as health, breeding and care issues.

Contact can be made through Brian Richings on 02 6248 5195 by phone or fax or e-mail to subria@bigpond.com.
